Harry Potter And The Cursed Child is based on the same theme as the previous Harry Potter books, LOVE. Anything more than this is not unnecessary.
Many of us have read the new book by now and can’t be happier even if there are some people who are not happy with its narrative style. The book is not in a novel format but a PLAY. Yes, ladies and gentlemen this work of art is presented in the form of a play. Therefore it misses out on the magical elaborated explanations and long paragraphs of a scene’s description like its predecessors. But none the less Harry Potter And The Cursed Child is as enchanting as the past ones.
Remember the first rule of being a reader?
“Always be ready to explore new ways of doing things.”
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Story begins where Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows left off. Curious about who is this cursed child, an excited me pre-ordered its hard copy when Amazon India decided to make a big deal from it (No offense, it is a big deal!). Book arrived earlier then promised, shooting my adrenaline levels to the sky. Reading the book in the tiny breaks I got from my work was a torture and I read about 200 pages as the closing hours dawned upon me. Yes, it took great deal of self constraint to not storm out of the office and read the book in a quieter, calmer place to finish the book. Thank God for the little rush day!

As I read the book I recollected memories of the time when I got my treasured copy of final installment “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows” on 21st July 2007. Also a pre-order at a local bookshop. Shopkeeper called me at about 9:45 in the morning. Instant thoughts contradicted each other. ‘Attending lectures is important.’ ‘Reading the book is more important.’ ‘Really, you after all this wait?’ Instead of college, I raced myself to the bookshop. Dashing to the bookshop I thought of all excuses to tell my tutors so I can skip the day, in the end I called my tutor pretending to be sick.
With flushed cheeks and sweaty forehead, I asked the shopkeeper for my copy. Mr. Patel (The shopkeeper) had a heartfelt laugh as he looked at his watch. Funny enough, I made it to the shop in less than 7 minutes after the call. Almost a sprint from my hostel. Laughing at my own eagerness I took a deep breath and kept following his every move. He deliberately took his time getting the book out. With lustfull eyes I devoured the book cover which was enchanting picture of Hermione, Harry & Ron caught up in Bellatrix Lastrange’s vault at the Gringotts Bank. I grabbed the copy from his hands, almost snatching it! Oh, the memories! Regardless, I spent all day reading the copy and then re-reading it. It was pure MAGIC! Do you remember?
“Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.
“After all this time?”
“Always,” said Snape.”
― J.K. Rowling,
Always Harry. ALWAYS.
Right now, I would love nothing more than to review this book and simply face the struggle of wanting to read the old books again or fall asleep with this gem in my hands. Later, a thought struck me, why not give it away? This book is something extraordinary. It’s a dare to write a different narrative after seven books that broke sales records all over the world. It’s an encouragement to do something different and scary. I gained something from it why not give the opportunity to someone else? So, jumping the trains of thoughts, I want to pass on this magic to someone.
