Let’s celebrate. THE EARTH DAY. Shall we?

Then I heard the enormous scream of nature….. ~ Edward Munch

Hi everyone πŸ™‚ So… Happy Earth Day. Planted a tree so far?I am writing this post in honor of The Earth Day. To be able to live here, we are so lucky aren’t we? But what are we doing to earn it?

We make a living. We earn. We sell our skills and talents as we get paid in return. Earth has offered us so much by birth but what are we doing to EARN the amazing resources the Mother Earth offers us?

International Earth Day began in the early 1970s by America. For obvious reasons it wasn’t a hot topic then. Now it’s a burning topic. Earth Day is quite popular and as soon as you log in on any social media profile you will find at the least 25 images about it. Great isn’t it? Let’s celebrate the Earth day by sharing tons of quotes and pictures of it but we are too busy and beautiful to get to planting ourselves. We go to wonderful travel destinations and take lots of pictures of the picturesque beauty of the place which mainly includes trees, gardens and green mountains. But hello, planting one tree in the backyard is an invitation to bugs and creepy crawleys. When did we become such hypocrites? In my society only my house has trees and my parents despite having full-time jobs love to take care of it. My parent’s have always had a garden, my father loves giving different fruits to the society kids. It’s fun watching him do all sorts of things for the garden and those kids.Β I want to be like them, I want to be a person who grows for others too.

IfΒ Sharing is caring. Sharing the fruits of the trees you grow is one of the highest kind of caring I guess.

I have been a gardening addict for as long as I can remember. I love getting my hands in the soil, I feel a unique sense of euphoria whenever I see a tree. There’s so much that goes into making of a tree. Planting it, nurturing it for years before you can eat its fruits. It’s funny how some of the most important trees don’t have fruits that man can eat. There’s a tiny fig tree in my front garden. I rarely get to eat its fruits because some bird or squirrel will always eat it up, the fig fruits are just too sweet and yummy to ignore. I love them. My father said, “let’s cut it down since it’s of no use, the birds leave nothing for us.” I was about to open my mouth in argument for the birds and animals but then he went like, “No, lets leave it. Let them have it.” And I wonder where do I get my kindness from? I couldn’t help but say, “Love you papa.”

If fathers are the most amazing characters made by nature then mother is the miracle of nature. Well, mine are.

Thomas Cole. Nature. Coast of Arcadia
The course of Empire the pastoral of Arcadian State in 1834 a painting by Thomas Cole….. Can you imagine yourself in one such place?

Well, moving on.

Almost all of us shared one post about Leonardo DiCaprio winning the Oscar Award, it gave birth to too many memes and jokes for days that followed. Yay! The great actor finally won an Oscar, I felt happy for him but not happy enough to share about it on every social media platform. Maybe I should have, everyone was doing it. But I set in a corner thinking to myself about his speech. The man has been one of my favorite actors since I saw his eyes in the Titanic movie, never have eyes spoken so much. Well, enough of the girl crush. Here’s the video of his speech at the 2016 Oscars.

So did you guys listen? Can you feel it all around you? The growing heat and the rising problems of global warming?Β Well, did you know global warming was important once upon a time? Yes, we needed global warming in order to stay warm.Β But do we need a 50 Degree temperature outside when we have to go out?

Yes you are safe in your AC houses or offices but what about those billions of people who work outside in the burning sun? And how long will you stay cool inside, thinking you have got an Ac & someone else will plant a tree? What if nobody does?Β If not for nature, wake up for yourself and plant a tree. Please oh, please my dear friend I beg you to plant at least enough tree to equivalent for your family members.

Just imagine how beautiful and green our world would be if seven billion people decided to bring up one tree, just one?

Facebook Image. Earth Day.
Choose carefully. World is changing by your actions.

I sort of like the third image the most. It would be wonderful to walk out of my house and find a canopy of large trees as I walk towards the start of my day. The question is, are we ready to do it for ourselves?

Bring up a tree. I repeat, bring up a tree. One for each of us.

Take care. Have a wonderful day.

  1. Tree are critical here – it’s semi-tropical. To go outside a good half of the year you need shade – as well as cleaner air. I’d love 50 (F) degree weather! Snow even! Ah, to live in the mountains.
Movie stars and their speeches. Major consumers of resources. Talk, talk, talk and then fly/drive home leaving people thinking they are so wonderful…as they take more of your money and buy more and more and live a sheltered protected life.
Always thought it was a good idea to ask yourself each night before going to bed “What did I to earn my place in this world and to justify the amount of resources consumed?”

    1. Trees are critical in my country too. It’s getting much warm this year, it reached almost 54 Degrees in some of the states.

Well I have been asking people a bit and I think that not all movie stars are alike. We got to get our facts right. Although yes, majority of them are mostly talk there is still a few percentage of them who do good work, isn’t that the same with us the not celebrities? We talk but we don’t do much to help nature, we say we wanna help but we won’t think before throwing the food to waste and throwing away clothes without using them much. Replacing our house furniture every now and then just because our credit cards can afford it. Well, I got to cover this topic. Pointing fingers isn’t going to help us EVER.

Have a great day dear πŸ™‚

      1. Into repurposing and reclaiming items here – wasteful and silly to always want “new” just because everyone else has one/not on trend any more when something is still perfectly usable. People should make their own style and trends thoughtfully and consider the costs which are more than just money.
Yes, specific is better. “We” assumes much too much with overgeneralization. And as you say, hard to see the facts long distance.
        Cheers for lovely weather again

        1. Consider the costs which are more than just money Can’t agree more! Thanks so much for putting it all in such little sentence.
          Cheers to you.
          Have a happy time πŸ™‚
          See you. Take care.

  2. Born and brought up in Assam, I have always taken nature and greenery for granted. But now staying in Delhi and unable to dig my fingers in some proper soil, has made me realised what I have lost.

  3. I agree we need to take care of our home, the earth better. We need to eliminate smog and pollution. I’m from Alberta, Canada and our hugest industry is oil. There’s a downturn right now in the economy so many oilfield workers don’t have jobs. Leo came here a year or two ago and spoke out against the oil sands. Other celebrities have too. My opinion is that Alberta’s economy has to diversify and look for other methods of fuel besides oil. It is going to take time to do that though, in a province who has depended on oil for so long. I get upset at guys like Leo who come her and complain, especially because you know this guy is taking his private jet everywhere running on airplane fuel (oil). Yes, treat the environment better but don’t be a hypocrite about it Leo, offer solutions not unconstructive criticism.

    1. I agree with you on that one. I keep reading about these movie stars who walk around talking about change and speak big words for it as well. But very few of them actually do something about it. Isn’t it weird how so much of donation money is flaunted around the world each year and yet so little happens?
I am sorry about the fact that he made all those people feel bad about what they do. So did you guys take any action on that? Like writing to your local employment agency about the possibilities of different jobs or for a clarification from local govt about what is being done by them for the people and nature in that area? Change starts with us, by our actions. Sand Oiling is really a serious cause for sea pollution and the fish and marine life really suffers a lot because of it.
You are right, we need to look for other ways to make fuels or we need to look for other ways of transportation, which causes less pollution.

      1. A lot of guys are on Employment Insurance and the gov’t has extended the length they can be on it. Hopefully, the economy turns around a bit and some of them can work again.

It will be a slow process moving from a world so heavily dependant on oil. I think they need to do things in Canada such as reducing carbon emissions etc. There is always trouble though btw for instance a NDP gov’t in power in Alberta such as we have now who is more focused on the environment and a Conservative Gov’t who was in power for forty-years before that and more on the side of big business who doesn’t want to spend money on being environmentally conscious.

Lot’s of issues play into it and people need jobs so I think a way to do that would be to begin diversifying our economy as our NDP gov’t wants to. However again, how long they stay in power is the question, this past year was the first time they were elected. Also, it’s about money, being in the hole financially isn’t good. Then again, the reason we are in the hole now is do to being dependant on oil.

But even little things such as recycling in your home, taking old appliances etc to the right place to recycle at the Eco station, etc. All help. So sometimes even though we do not have as much control over things such as the oil sands, and big business making their companies more environmentally friendly, it comes down to the individual at home πŸ™‚

        Thanks and great piece again!

        1. I asked you many questions as I wanted to know more about your govt and you gave such an amazing answer. It’s good to know about the things happening in your area and how local govt. is taking action. Also, like you said, it’s very bad to be in financial hole, no one wants to be there nor should be there. There’s enough for all of us out there yet we have to suffer at the hands of others. I am happy to see your positive attitude towards this. I hope things take a turn and people will have the chances for better jobs for earning. πŸ™‚
Thanks for the comment dear, got to know a lot.
          Hugz
          have a wonderful day. πŸ™‚

  4. Wonderful post. I am a strong believer in trees saving our world for generations to come. I have planted so many trees in my garden and the birds and animal have made a home here, along with the insects. But that’s okay too, have to have insects as well. It kills me to see trees getting cut down in my neighborhood.

    1. I know right, it feels great to wake up in the morning and listen to the birds chirp.. <3 I am so happy I wrote this article, it's fun to read you guys talking about your experiences and gardens. Thanks for coming here and taking time to comment dear πŸ™‚ Means a lot to me. πŸ™‚

      Have a wonderful Sunday πŸ™‚

  5. Great post! It’s so great that you and your family are avid gardeners πŸ™‚ My dad also loves gardening and I love helping to plant the flowers. I just love the feel of soil in my hands and getting my hands a bit dirty too! Haha. It’s been proven that people are healthier, happier and live longer when they are around a lot of trees. During May, I’m going to take the 30×30 Challenge, which is a David Suzuki challenge to spend everyday of May outside to appreciate nature more. I think we all need that reminder every now and then as we get so caught up in our busy lives, like you said.

    1. Wow that’s a wonderful 30*30 challenge. I wonder if I could do that, it’d be so good to spend time in nature rather then the white cubicles. At first I didn’t want to write about Earth Day as everyone is on it but then I felt like maybe I should. That way I got to connect to the people who actually do something for nature. πŸ™‚ Thanks for dropping by dear πŸ™‚ Felt great to read your gardening time with your father.

      Have a great sunday πŸ™‚

  6. The care with which you’ve put this together bespeaks your passion about the subject. Bill Hicks said we were a virus in shoes … you’ve improved our image here. Thanks.

    1. I plan on doing something for nature and Earth Dave. I am really worried about our future generations. lol does that make me sound like an old lady? :p

Thanks so much for your kind words πŸ™‚

  7. Oh I remember in school they made us plant trees and click pictures and stuff but our class was never included. And I was so bummed but two years back while in college, they made us do it individually. The BEST feeling ever!

    1. I am so glad they make kids plant trees. haha I won’t ask why your class pictures never gt included but I am happy to see you are moving on and doing something for nature. πŸ™‚

        1. lol 10th graders are treated with high caution. Like all they need to do is study. >.< Glad you are out of school and in college. πŸ™‚ Enjoy dear. PS. Sorry I went out after commenting last. Just came back so late reply. Hope you don't mind.

          1. That’s my entire birthdate! I started the blog because I suddenly felt like doing something that made me happy and that I did myself. Until I got completely addicted to it. So yeah. Didn’t turn back after that.

          2. Wow so your birthday is almost a month away now. Great. I think you write very well already and you will be writing hell well as you keep going on blogging..

No problems. Just check it an enable comments. It’s really good post to yourself and maybe many of us can relate to it.

          3. Yeaaaah! Finally turning 18. Definitely gotten better (at least I think so) than my first post. So let’s hope I’m up for the task. Thank you so much tho. That’s really sweet.
I’m trying. But my phone doesn’t seem to open WordPress on the web so I’ve to work it out through the app until tomorrow when I can lay hands on my PC. Its 1 am and my parents will be pretty pissed if I start up the PC now. xD #kidproblems. Tehehe

          4. haha yea kid problems. Well I am so happy to have talked to you. It’s okay don’t apologize, it’s really difficult to make changes or comment on blogs through wordpress app. It sucks for me too. You gave it a try, bravo for that. πŸ™‚ I hope and wish that your writing always stays with you and you with it. It’s wonderful to be able to express your thoughts through writing.

Have a fabulous Sunday sweetheart. πŸ™‚

  8. I still have my tree from Elementary School when we threw our first Earth Day party. Besides the fact it grew into a bush, it provided a good sense of what commitments would have to be put in before any rewards could be reaped. (Like feeding those bush berries to my ant colony, I’m their queen.)

    1. Wow you are an ant queen? :O Why haven’t you mentioned that on your blog. I am following blog of an ant queen. Yay, I am so happy.

      PS. Proud of you πŸ˜€
