Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton

Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton – A Book Review

I have been a fan of Jurassic Park movies & Steven Spielberg for over 20 years and I never had a mental picture of me feeling so cheated after reading just ten pages of the novel. Don’t get me wrong, I love Jurassic park by Steven Spielberg so imagine my surprise when I started reading the book and it turned out to be a whole new level of adventure?

Dr. Alan Grant Jurassic Park Movie

It begins with a quick hospital visit to Costa Rica islands by suspicious people in the middle of the night for what looked like animal scratching but told otherwise by the men in the helicopter? Similarly, another incident takes place on the island where a girl is bitten by a lizard-like creature while visiting with her parents. An American doctor Martin Guitierrez living in Costa Rica tells them it’s nothing to worry about but gets curious when he sees the drawing of the lizard that the girl made. Later on, he goes to look for the creature and accidentally gets a carcass of the same lizard. He sends it to another researcher at a university lab.

Thus begins the hunt for Hammond’s mysterious island (Jurassic Park) and his suspicious activities by the government of America.

Welcome to… Jurassic Park

Hammond is a science lover who wants to bring back the pre-historic creatures in order to create a new business. A new kind of amusement park that will shock the world and make him a renowned thinker of the 20th century. He is working with Dr. Wu a top of the class in his days and someone who wanted to make legends with his genetic research.

Solemn Oath

The Awkward Solemn Oath I took at the beginning of 2017…

Solemn Oath means a dignified promise you make mostly to yourself or someone else. In other words, it also means, ‘you are screwed!’

Remember those tiny voices that start ringing in our heads as the New Year approaches? Yep! I have those too. Some call it New Year Resolutions, which I don’t make as I know I won’t be able to ride the resolution cart through the year.

Solemn Oath My Petridish Micky Mouse

Nope! Just can’t.

Gateway Books to Your Favorite Genre. T5W

Gateway books to your favorite genre that’s like asking for the top 5 recommended books by you. Heck of a question, ain’t it? Soon you find yourself in the middle of your room with stacks of books around you, looking for those few chosen ones that you want to name for the post, whew! You love these books and you want someone to read them, what to say that they will take it? LOL. I am doing this post for Goodreads group Top 5 Wednesday run by Samantha of Thoughtsontome and Lainey ofGingerreadslainey.

If you have read about me you will know that my most favorite genre is fantasy-adventure. I have already listed The Hobbit & LOTR by J R R Tolkien there. LOTR is a mammoth with more than 1000 pages to its credit but the book is filled with glorious imagination. I won’t be taking these two in the list nor Harry Potter. I am a reader of many genres so I will be listing a few books/manga that I have come to love simply because of their style, storyline and the depth of humanity they focus on.

My most favorite genre is fantasy-adventure but I don’t stop at that only my second favorites are food, psychological thriller, romance. So, here goes nothing…

Characters You WOULDN’T Want to Trade Places With. Top 5 Wednesday.

However easy it sounds, it is quite difficult to find characters you WOULDN’T want to trade places with. I thought how hard could it be? The answer to that question is quick enough, tough as Earth’s crust. I want to thank the Goodreads group – Top 5 Wednesday run by Samantha of Thoughtsontome and Lainey of Gingerreadslainey which has given me the opportunity to brainstorm about the books I have read till now and come up with a few characters I wouldn’t like to trade places with.

Book Reviews

Negative Book Reviews… An Arrow In The Dark.

For someone who loves books I have never said much about books. I just recently started talking about the books I read. There’s two type of bibliophile, one who buy because they liked the blurb or the second who has read a lot of reviews and reached to the conclusion that the book would be a good read. I am both. Most often I buy the books because I loved the blurb and no matter how bad a review is it’s not going to make me “not buy it”. Book reviews are a glimpse of the magical worlds that the book holds. Often there are negative and positive reviews of almost anything. Let’s talk about the negatives today.

What makes people write the positive or negative book reviews?

Why is it that one book that you absolutely loved was disappointment for the other?

Fictional things we desire

Fictional Things We All Have Desired At Some Point In Our Lives- Part 2

By this time you must have read my first post on this topic i.e Fictional things we all have desired at some point in our lives. If you haven’t already then check it out here!

So basically I have never done a series of posts on things that I don’t totally own but I got this idea while talking to my sister the other day, when she ended up saying, “you baka, you can write on this topic you know?” & suddenly that nonexistent light bulb lit up above my head!! Eureka! Why didn’t I think of this before? Well as someone once claimed, “artistic minds are rarely tidy and organized”, thanks for the rescue my dear friend!

So here goes my second list:

~~~> Nimbostratus Cloud from The Snow Merchant by Sam Gayton – Imagine having a snow cloud of your own. Just imagine!! Gosh I want to feel some snow on my face right now. The cool wind blowing the snow everywhere, layers of snow covering the pebble street and you can jump in leave your foot prints and annoy your friends singing, “me first… me first…” Lettie has the amazing luck to have one such cloud which was made by her alchemist mother!!
<!–more–>~~~> Dragon from Eragon by Christopher Paolini or Braveheart by Randal Wallace – A dragon that you are destined to live with, sounds like a good deal to me! Dragons over men any day! :p I’m just kidding. 😉 Dragon’s are mighty creatures that I have been studying since I was a kid but I have yet to fathom the great amount of literature that’s out there about them! Only literature isn’t enough anymore, I wish I could meet a dragon myself, bless my heart I hope he isn’t like Smaug!
~~~> Magic Red Shoes from Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum

All right so what if the shoes were supposed to be silver, I love red! A lot has been modified about this shoes from their original tale. Imagine a pair of shoes that fit whoever wears them & just click the shoes together thrice and you are home! Unfortunately for me, I am unable to get even a simple red shoe 'cuz the stores don't have them in my size!!

~~~> A Moving Castle from Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones – Tell me if the Wynne in the author’s name didn’t make you think of Batman? Another fictional almost living thing that all women desire and men want to be! So, a moving castle with a fire demon, a handsome wizard, tons of wizard literature & a magical door that opens different door every time you click and open it. Sounds awesome? Want to shift right away? Ummm there’s just one problem, it’s FICTIONAL!!!
Fictional things, Howl's moving castle HOwl's moving castle
You can satisfy yourself by reading the novel or watching the awe-inspiring movie made by Hayao Miyazaki. 🙂
~~~> The library that Beast opens up for Belle from Fairy Tales by Brother’s Grimm – Those who didn’t feel a rush when they saw Beast’s library where you can fit a Godzilla and still have room to read, must be an idiot!! I for once want adventure in the great wild somewhere, I want it more then I can tell and I want that with a ton of books. If you want to see the enchanting library click here. By the way, did you hear a live action Beauty and the beast movie is coming out with Emma Watson as Belle?

~~~> My own Phantom Tollbooth from Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster – Imagine a package arriving at your door with label – for ______, who has plenty of time! What would you do if you were terribly bored with your life and had time to play a phantom tollbooth?? A Phantom Tollbooth that leads you on a journey from which you will never return without changes in yourself. Think before you speak for what you say you will have to chew at some point in time, meeting armies of wisdom and princess who was banished for giving importance to numbers and words?? Read this amazing book.
All right that’s more than enough for now. I am going to post one more post which has more than 10 items in it and then I will be done with this series. So did you like the post? Any fictional things that you want all for yourself??
Don’t forget to comment, let me know which fictional thing you want the most!
Fictional Things We All Have Desired At Some Point In Our Lives – Part 1
All book nerds face many difficulties in life. For example our love for books goes unnoticed and we are taken for lunatics if we ever act like our favorite book character, no one understands why we cry when our favorite character dies, we loan book to someone and they don’t understand why we are angry when they return it spoiled… Eerr you get the idea! One of the greatest problem is when we wish for fictional things and there’s ton of other people who want the same things and we end up fighting over fictional things! :p
For me, biggest point is no one gets it when I wish Hermione’s enchanted purse or time turner!! Just imagine all the things I can keep in the purse and it will go undetected since it has a protection charm! Win win situation eh? I’m just gonna list a few things that I have read about and from time to time wished I had them. So without further delay, let’s get on with it.
Fictional things we wish to have… Give me everything….
~~~> Hermione’s enchanted purse from Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows by J.K.Rowling– Imagine all the books you will carry. Oh all the places you can go without your purse being seen by the crooks. Imagine all the fun you can have when you board the Boeing plane!
