Solemn Oath

The Awkward Solemn Oath I took at the beginning of 2017…

Solemn Oath means a dignified promise you make mostly to yourself or someone else. In other words, it also means, ‘you are screwed!’

Remember those tiny voices that start ringing in our heads as the New Year approaches? Yep! I have those too. Some call it New Year Resolutions, which I don’t make as I know I won’t be able to ride the resolution cart through the year.

Solemn Oath My Petridish Micky Mouse

Nope! Just can’t.

Bob Marley Quote Facebook

Dear Facebook, This is Why I Don’t Quit You!

You are under no obligation to be the person you were yesterday, a month/a year ago or even a moment ago. You have every right to grow, no apologies to anyone.

That being said, in a world where technology changes every single day. It is hard not to have any feelings regarding your own social media persona when you are on many different social media platforms. Happiness is a state of mind but do we have time for it. Gaining presence in social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc is a dream come true. Having that Blue Verified mark is part of that dream. Today I want to talk about Facebook specifically. Over three years ago I myself stopped going online on Facebook for almost a year.

While I was going through a difficult phase of my life and truly I didn’t feel motivated enough to go online on Facebook. Previously I deleted my Facebook profile twice for a few days over some small fights with my then friends. I really don’t feel the need to use Facebook for more than an hour or 30 minutes a day then and I don’t feel the need to go online on Facebook at all now even though I have my own pages to manage.

Facebook. So many emotions gif

(Found on Giphy)

The usual posts on Facebook are like these, people getting married/engaged/having baby, getting new jobs or how they are tired of their jobs, How bosses are annoying little pricks, someone moving out of country, 5 people checking in at places you have (miraculously just now) wanted to go, someone scoring high in their boards etc. Compared to them your life seems so little, so pathetic and you wonder when will you get to do all of these as well. Sometimes, I do that too and I also whined about it at times. But now I realize, that Facebook posts by others about their lives only means they want to share it. All those people are your friends with whom you converse only once in a while or not at all.

Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure you are not, surrounded by assholes. Well said by Sigmund Freud.

Are we indeed surrounded by assholes? All of them? Think it.

Many people take around 100-200 selfies and chose one of it after heavy editing to put as their profile picture only to replace it a week later with another amazing picture. Posing for selfies with groups is a trend. About that I am thankful that I am Selfie Owl. Facebook Selfieslazy. I hardly take selfies and I don’t have the time to indulge in editing activities for my pictures, happily. I don’t check in at any places I go to since I find it unnecessary to touch my phone during such times and also because I don’t have Facebook App installed. Teehee…

Just who are you trying to impress?

The Spy A Novel by Paulo Coelho – Review

I was waiting eagerly for “The Spy by Paulo Coelho”. Due to work pressure, I was not able to read this novel when it arrived on a sleepy winter morning. I remember writing an essay about ‘Women who made history’ as an 8th grader. One of the books I referred to contained an entire section on women in espionage and the world-famous ‘Mata Hari’ aka ‘Marguerite Gertrude Zelle’ was in it.

I never felt so thrilled to read about a woman spy before, the three pages only told about who Mata Hari was & how she was accused of being a spy and later sentenced to death. Sadly, in those days I didn’t have access to the WEB of the internet and she slowly faded in my memory resurfacing from time to time when women & espionage were mentioned in one sentence.

Mata Hari The Spy Paulo Coelho

The beauty in all her GLORY like her name Mata Hari – SUN fully Shining.

The THC Under a Gibbous Moon by Manoj V Jain – Review

Manoj V Jain is another IIM, Ahmedabad alumni turning an author, this is his second book. His book The THC Under a Gibbous Moon is about Samar, Sanjaneka & Varun…. Loss, Longing & Changing Circumstances.

Book Blurb: ( As it is on the back of the cover)

“Now look at the person in the mirror and tell her that you love her.”

Sanjaneka stared and stared, unable to utter the simple words aloud.

Why is Sanjneka unable to love herself? What past is she running away from?

How does a Uber ride help Samar save his marriage?

Why does the dull moonlight of a gibbous moon trouble Varun so much?

Three lives. One Utopian center.

The Total Holistic Center (The THC) welcomes the broken and those looking for closure through it’s doors and works its magic to return them to the world fulfilled. This is the story of these three troubled souls who seek solace at the center, indulge in its unusual treatment and find the cures to their ailments in surprising places.

A book on loss, longing and changing circumstances. The THC dives into uncomfortable topics that are usually swept under the rug: fragile relationships, deteriorating marriages, addictions, impotence, and the delicate bond between fathers and sons.

Being Writer

Being A Writer.

“Being writer who moves people with her writing is my aspiration. I am still practicing, not good enough.” I said with sparkling eyes. “Dude, seriously?” At an office party I found myself sitting beside a pedigree kid who has been talking about how his father’s huge clothing business and how getting into banking is so not his thing. Honestly, why do people do a job if they don’t need it and are going to whine about it all the time to those who want to do it?

I found myself marveling at the fact that human ignorance and self-righteousness actually knows no boundaries when I told a that I want to be a full-time writer someday. The prompt response I received was, “Dude! Seriously? Isn’t that borish? Sit and make things up? A total waste of your talents you know.” Not wanting to offend the man I racked my brains for a subtle answer. How could he know what talents I have in 3 months? “On top of that It’s too easy to write. Can you tackle a financial formula and give a loan? Don’t think so. I can write a novel if I want to but I don’t. Like I said, it’s borish.”

  • I don’t want to live. What is there to live for?
  • Not good enough, Big enough, strong enough, successful enough… ENOUGH! Will I ever be enough.
  • Even I don’t know what I want and it’s driving me crazy, what should I do?
  • The Universe is so big and there are so many people, I’ll never be noticed.
  • I look like a scarecrow gone wrong. Look at her/him, they are so beautiful.

Quiet Echos. My Petridish

Quiet Echos. Looking For Someone To Listen To, At The End of The World.

In the sea of our kind, we are all lone souls.

Awhile ago, I read about a lone Blue Whale. She is supposedly only one of her kind. She sends out messages at 52 Hertz and she has not been heard in last two years. Being a Blue Whale enthusiast I feel so helpless whenever I read about her. Scientists says whales change their call frequencies they don’t know the reason behind it but they think it’s because of the noise pollution created by our various kinds of ships.

52 Hertz Whale or World’s loneliest whale, that’s what they call her. When I think about her I feel like she is Alice, lost in the wonderland. This Alice is one of her kind and perhaps the most wonderful kind one can meet but alas, she is without a friend. She doesn’t have someone to listen to her calls and no one has replied her quiet echos yet. I wonder if she wants to be Alice at all. Just the thought is immensely painful. I really hope this Alice finds a friend or she already has according to this article. Please do listen to the audio of Alice. Some comments on the sound-cloud site says, “she seems lonely and sad.” I think she is hopeful. The recordings of her voice are quite old, the first one was recorded in early 1989s.

Hope is a good thing…. What is hope?

What is hope?

A lot of times we find ourselves at junctions. Junctions in the form of problem or confusions, from here we have two options; either to move forward with our decisions or to stop evaluate and sometimes just to stop it all together.

Recently I read about a girl from Bangalore who committed suicide after she searched Guru Google for more than two hours for ways to commit suicide. She was looking for ways to end her life as fast as possible. Google helped her find a way. I hear she had a good degree and was starting out as an entrepreneur in which she failed in the first attempt and her family failed to support her because she left a good paying job to follow her heart. Not going to blame anyone in this case, why should I? Just a bystander, who knew nothing. But we all heard about this case and there are a few take outs from this incidents, I am just going to talk about the first few thoughts that came to my mind when I heard about this shameful incident.

Just a minute! I am busy procrastinating!!

So much for my first post that I have been thinking and procrastinating for last few days!! If there was a challenge for procrastination maybe 99% of us would win without even trying. While the 1% will bask in the glory of having done something, something that they were afraid to create but were not paralyzed by that fear. Especially for creative folks procrastination is killer of the passion and talent that lies within them. Even though it’s said that it is never too late to do something you could have done, there is a kind of people whose passions and dreams die with passing time as they get adjusted to their lives that they may not have opted for if not for life support.

“I wonder what becomes of lost opportunities? Perhaps our guardian angel gathers them up as we drop them, and will give them back to us in the beautiful sometime when we have grown wiser, and learned how to use them rightly.”

~ Helen Keller

Perhaps this quote stand right for those who do not give up.

Those times are gone when people used to be distracted by running squirrels or a fight in the streets, now it’s time for ultra-procrastination. This is the age of internet, both a blessing and curse. You start by looking for some inspiration googling words like “what should I write today?”  hahaha,  then you click on one post and then another and before you know you are reading “30 quotes that will help you write better”, “10 reasons you should be keeping a journal” and that goes on and on until you realize that a few hours have passed by, your neck aches and you are having a internet-hangover and you decide to rest a bit! Some expertise in procrastination comes with lots and lots of practice and to be true I am one of those bunch too but from time to time I leave my procrastination zone and do stuff that I really need/want to do.
