Imagination is the fire of life…

It is impossible to live without failing at something unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all - in which case, you fail by default. J K Rowling

My Secret SuperPower Is – The Ability To Never Give Up.

Never Give Up. Never giving up the passions you had as a child and the ones you develop as an adult is an important character trait…. Believe it! It is my super power.

Spencer Johnson What would you do if you weren't afraid? Never Give Up

Since we are young we are told that something or other are not what we should be. Because society and families have different plans for us and our own choices do not fit in the scene. Most of the time we give in. Due to our own lack of understanding, we let the path chose us instead of choosing our paths.

As we grow after 20 we learn things. We understand that what anyone ever asked of us was for a reason. For whose good it was is another question. The question then is, ‘are you willing to forgive? Others as well as yourself?” Refrain yourself from the blame game.

What happened is gone time. What can be done to amend the bygone?

We can always secretly keep the light of our passion burning. Our passions need not die. Our families won’t pressure us forever, maybe from their pressure, a strong desire to do your thing will be born.

Hi whats up

Whats Up People? How Are You?

Hey you, Whats up? How are you doing? Is 2017 the year for you so far? I have been pretty busy for the most of 2017 so far. Today, I want to update you guys on whats going on with me so far and what I plan to do as the year passes. I wrote a post last year after the first quarter of 2016 passed. This year, I am on a different page altogether.

First off, I am in a pleasant mood and happy to be alive in this too much work too little rest no time for anything year. I am exhausting busy at work which is the second main reason for me not being online. First reason being, family affairs.

Since January, we have been quite busy with March closing month. For those who don’t know, I am an Assistant Manager working with one of the largest banks in India, ‘Bank of India”. Being the second in command I am learning to work in a whole new light. It’s rigorous work, there are too many people without bank accounts and my current branch being situated in an industrial area we are always busy with new accounts, advances, and other products. To those wanting to join banking sector in India, my advice is, learn to be tough and kind, it is very important in our country where more than 30% population is illiterate and don’t know banking at all. Banking is not for the faint-hearted in this era of evolution in India.

Whats up. A scene in General Banks in India

Any day, this amount of customers is nothing new to me now.

Solemn Oath

The Awkward Solemn Oath I took at the beginning of 2017…

Solemn Oath means a dignified promise you make mostly to yourself or someone else. In other words, it also means, ‘you are screwed!’

Remember those tiny voices that start ringing in our heads as the New Year approaches? Yep! I have those too. Some call it New Year Resolutions, which I don’t make as I know I won’t be able to ride the resolution cart through the year.

Solemn Oath My Petridish Micky Mouse

Nope! Just can’t.

Bob Marley Quote Facebook

Dear Facebook, This is Why I Don’t Quit You!

You are under no obligation to be the person you were yesterday, a month/a year ago or even a moment ago. You have every right to grow, no apologies to anyone.

That being said, in a world where technology changes every single day. It is hard not to have any feelings regarding your own social media persona when you are on many different social media platforms. Happiness is a state of mind but do we have time for it. Gaining presence in social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc is a dream come true. Having that Blue Verified mark is part of that dream. Today I want to talk about Facebook specifically. Over three years ago I myself stopped going online on Facebook for almost a year.

While I was going through a difficult phase of my life and truly I didn’t feel motivated enough to go online on Facebook. Previously I deleted my Facebook profile twice for a few days over some small fights with my then friends. I really don’t feel the need to use Facebook for more than an hour or 30 minutes a day then and I don’t feel the need to go online on Facebook at all now even though I have my own pages to manage.

Facebook. So many emotions gif

(Found on Giphy)

The usual posts on Facebook are like these, people getting married/engaged/having baby, getting new jobs or how they are tired of their jobs, How bosses are annoying little pricks, someone moving out of country, 5 people checking in at places you have (miraculously just now) wanted to go, someone scoring high in their boards etc. Compared to them your life seems so little, so pathetic and you wonder when will you get to do all of these as well. Sometimes, I do that too and I also whined about it at times. But now I realize, that Facebook posts by others about their lives only means they want to share it. All those people are your friends with whom you converse only once in a while or not at all.

Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure you are not, surrounded by assholes. Well said by Sigmund Freud.

Are we indeed surrounded by assholes? All of them? Think it.

Many people take around 100-200 selfies and chose one of it after heavy editing to put as their profile picture only to replace it a week later with another amazing picture. Posing for selfies with groups is a trend. About that I am thankful that I am Selfie Owl. Facebook Selfieslazy. I hardly take selfies and I don’t have the time to indulge in editing activities for my pictures, happily. I don’t check in at any places I go to since I find it unnecessary to touch my phone during such times and also because I don’t have Facebook App installed. Teehee…

Just who are you trying to impress?

Mata Hari The Spy Paulo Coelho

The Spy A Novel by Paulo Coelho – Review

I was waiting eagerly for “The Spy by Paulo Coelho”. Due to work pressure, I was not able to read this novel when it arrived on a sleepy winter morning. I remember writing an essay about ‘Women who made history’ as an 8th grader. One of the books I referred to contained an entire section on women in espionage and the world-famous ‘Mata Hari’ aka ‘Marguerite Gertrude Zelle’ was in it.

I never felt so thrilled to read about a woman spy before, the three pages only told about who Mata Hari was & how she was accused of being a spy and later sentenced to death. Sadly, in those days I didn’t have access to the WEB of the internet and she slowly faded in my memory resurfacing from time to time when women & espionage were mentioned in one sentence.

Perfect strangers so close yet too far apart

Perfect Strangers. So Close Yet Too Far Apart.

This article will reach all kind of people, the perfect strangers that I write about. People from different ethnicity and religion, different cultures and age groups will be reading this post. Most of us will never meet each other personally nor would we talk for more than a few times if not at all. Yet, by reading each other’s written words or pictures we converse.

We convey to each other our heart’s desires and our deepest troubles yet we feel misunderstood and unhappy. Most of us will never know what the person living next to us wants the most or fears the most, we won’t know a lot of things about someone who lives right next to us leave alone someone who lives a thousand miles away.

Yet by crossing this initial barrier of ignorance and invisibility, by acknowledging that someone out there is going to read my post, just imagining about that makes me feel the presence of another human being. Just like me, sitting there, reading…

There are too many of us and we are all too far apart.

So true Kurt Vonnegut.

I say this because I feel that we have become immune to everything else but ourselves. Every tragedy, bad news, social issues sounds fake somehow. The person walking two steps from us seems like a perfect stranger, we hardly even recognize that person as a human being. Our power of empathy seems to be taken away from us because there’s just too many of us… Too many to count.

Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi… Be The Change You Want To See In The World.

Out of all Mahatma Gandhi quotes, this one pops up almost everywhere…

BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.

Mahatma Gandhi is a man who lives on despite being dead for 67 years. His simplicity, generous & strong will are shining rays of hope for many. I don’t like him as much but I like the work he did. It will be his birthday in few hours and I am so sad because if only it was the day after tomorrow if it hadn’t been 2nd October on a Sunday it would have been a holiday for me. :p hahaha Jokes apart, I am really very happy.

It’s a wonderful night here. Listening to the music flowing freely from the speakers in some grounds far from my home because it’s the first day of Gujarati’s favorite festival, Navratri. I think of all the people swaying to the melodies and feel like dancing myself.  Even the crickets are chirping along the music so well. Lucky guy to be born in the festive times.

Mahatma Gandhi….

Mahatma means “A Great Soul. I wonder how Gandhi must have felt being called a Mahatma. Did he feel proud of all he had done or was he just happy and didn’t care? Ever thought how history will remember him? Imagine being a role model to some and being a nightmare for others? Never dreamt of being called “Father of The Nation” or “Baapu”? I don’t know but I like to imagine that he didn’t think about it at all. That he just selflessly did all that he could to help his fellow beings.

Today I see many complaining and suggesting how it can be a better world if someone else could change. For example, there’s too much traffic, why did that man bring his car to the market holding up all the traffic? How am I going to complete this assignment? darn that teacher. When will my colleague stop being such an ass?

I wonder since when did we start needing others to be better so our lives could be better. I mean if only “OUR” lives were to be lived by the actions of “OTHERS”… Not a bad idea, if you write a novel about it, do give my idea credits! 😛Mahatma Gandhi quote

If Gandhi was alive today, I wonder what kind of storm he would have brought. On his birthday, I like him or not I want to once again remind myself that I only need to change myself to change the world.

What happens when you decide to BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD?

  • Some thought process changes. Instead of wishing, you start doing. By doing, you bring something in this world that is powerful enough to change the atmosphere around you.
  • A teacher of mine once said, “Circumstances are never in your favor. You just have to do your best and keep going.” Don’t wait for things to change and be in your favor so you can do better. Don’t look for faults in others, don’t blame others to justify your bad situations. Don’t blame yourself either. Just do, do what is necessary to be better. For the change.
  • One starts being happier.
  • Complaints become less and one becomes more engaging.
  • Being the best version of yourself is not achievable in a day, but day by day things keep changing and before you know you have a whole new life to look up and smile about.
  • Believe it or not, life becomes different.
  • Change is challenging. It’s tough and rewarding in its own ways.

We need not be Mahatmas but somehow we all can in our small ways start lighting up hope like the tiny lamp posts standing tall in snow, burning away, giving our warmth and light to the world and to ourselves.

I wanted the post to be 300 words long and it’s already >600. I am a firm believer in being the change I want to see in the world and somehow I can’t help but hope that no matter what things will turn out nice.

Well, Mahatma Gandhi.. I wish you a very happy 147th Birthday. I never thought I would say this but, thank you. 🙂 & my dear reader, I wish you a happy Sunday.

Being Writer

Being A Writer.

“Being writer who moves people with her writing is my aspiration. I am still practicing, not good enough.” I said with sparkling eyes. “Dude, seriously?” At an office party I found myself sitting beside a pedigree kid who has been talking about how his father’s huge clothing business and how getting into banking is so not his thing. Honestly, why do people do a job if they don’t need it and are going to whine about it all the time to those who want to do it?

I found myself marveling at the fact that human ignorance and self-righteousness actually knows no boundaries when I told a that I want to be a full-time writer someday. The prompt response I received was, “Dude! Seriously? Isn’t that borish? Sit and make things up? A total waste of your talents you know.” Not wanting to offend the man I racked my brains for a subtle answer. How could he know what talents I have in 3 months? “On top of that It’s too easy to write. Can you tackle a financial formula and give a loan? Don’t think so. I can write a novel if I want to but I don’t. Like I said, it’s borish.”

Advice That Mattered. Reliving Memories.

We all have a few advice that mattered to us as children but ones that we forgot as teen-adults and kept getting our butts kicked because of that. My one such advice was given to me by my sister. She used to tell me, “Look around. Learn from others. Their mistakes/failures/success/actions etc. You don’t have to do them all yourself. Learn from others. Whatever you want to do, believe in yourself.”
