Only Regret. Short story

The Only Regret. A Short Story.

Regrets, some of us have them in our lives. I never thought I was capable of regretting, until now. This is a story about the only regret I have.

The only regret.

The curtains rose and fell, wind crept in silently. Taking a slow breath she commented, ‘I like this part of the story. The princess Sati takes action for herself. Brave, isn’t she?’

‘Yes.’ I kept on reading the book. It is a sunny day outside but she can not go out to take a walk, something she loved dearly. Sunday is the only day I get to spend with her. She is so beautiful, my first love. Seeing her in this condition pained me but I had taken it in my hands to take care of her every Sunday. My college friends made fun of me when I refused to go out with them.

She fell from the steps three months ago. Her back was badly hurt, doctors said she will not be able to walk anymore. We didn’t have much money to provide her with the medical care she needed. Since a month she is constantly suffering from viral fever. My mother is a sole earner for my family.

We are left with very less every month after mine and my sister’s college fees. She knew this very well, she knew we couldn’t spend much on her. She was understanding and I was helpless. With my part-time job, I could barely make up for my living expenses in another city. Whenever I can manage I will bring her favorite snacks for her. Today it is Jamun. She loved the salted ones.

I kept the book down and took her hand into my own. They rarely took care of her, they were just so busy. She just lay there in the bed, helpless until someone was free enough to come to her. I was bewildered.

Looking into her eyes and asked her, ‘Do you want to come with me? I will take care of you, I promise. I will talk to Maa & Di.’

‘No. Look after yourself, go on with your studies. Make a wonderful life. Take care of them.’

‘I promise one day, I will take care of you. You deserve so much more.’

Taking her in my arms I cried like a baby. She cried too. She caressed my head and assured me, ‘I am sure you will.’

I left after she had gone to sleep. Very next day I got a call that she had passed away. A pain surged through my body numbing me down to the ground. I cried for all that she had done for me and all that I will never be able to do for her.

Once we lose someone we never get over them. Especially when you have grown up in their arms, listening to the many stories and myths like they were real.

This is the only regret I have. Maybe I will carry it with me to my deathbed.

‘I promise one day, I will take care of you. You deserve so much more.’

I hope you liked the story. Please give it a thumbs up and share it with someone you know. 🙂

Take care.  See ya ^.^

Hi whats up

Whats Up People? How Are You?

Hey you, Whats up? How are you doing? Is 2017 the year for you so far? I have been pretty busy for the most of 2017 so far. Today, I want to update you guys on whats going on with me so far and what I plan to do as the year passes. I wrote a post last year after the first quarter of 2016 passed. This year, I am on a different page altogether.

First off, I am in a pleasant mood and happy to be alive in this too much work too little rest no time for anything year. I am exhausting busy at work which is the second main reason for me not being online. First reason being, family affairs.

Since January, we have been quite busy with March closing month. For those who don’t know, I am an Assistant Manager working with one of the largest banks in India, ‘Bank of India”. Being the second in command I am learning to work in a whole new light. It’s rigorous work, there are too many people without bank accounts and my current branch being situated in an industrial area we are always busy with new accounts, advances, and other products. To those wanting to join banking sector in India, my advice is, learn to be tough and kind, it is very important in our country where more than 30% population is illiterate and don’t know banking at all. Banking is not for the faint-hearted in this era of evolution in India.

Whats up. A scene in General Banks in India

Any day, this amount of customers is nothing new to me now.

Logan The Wolverine X Men Marvel Movies Superhero My Petridish

Logan. In The End, Time Beats Us All.

This post isn’t a movie review about Logan, the last Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) movie. It is about the abundance of thoughts springing through my mind after watching the movie. 17 Years of my life, Hugh Jackman’s life and Patrick Stewart’s life – one crazy obsession – the perfection of play and the heroism.

Precisely 3 years ago, X-Men sent Wolverine back to 1983 to stop Mystic from assassinating Bolivar Trask whose death leads to the creation of sentinels (robots designed to kill Mutants). Wolverine succeeds and future of X-Men changes.

Fast forward 3 years and you find that the future didn’t change so much. Somewhere along the time line things happened, time changed its gears and another enemy of X-Men appeared. In the movie timeline, no new X-Men have been born for 25 years, only those who were bred in labs to be rats to the hands of the same scientist who designed a virus that killed the real X-Men. Wolverine, Professor X (Charles Xavier) & Caliban are the only remaining (or so it seems) X-men.

So what changed? X-Men dies at the hand of seemingly normal humans anyway. What changed? TIME.

Time gives life to heroism and sucks it out too.

Bob Marley Quote Facebook

Dear Facebook, This is Why I Don’t Quit You!

You are under no obligation to be the person you were yesterday, a month/a year ago or even a moment ago. You have every right to grow, no apologies to anyone.

That being said, in a world where technology changes every single day. It is hard not to have any feelings regarding your own social media persona when you are on many different social media platforms. Happiness is a state of mind but do we have time for it. Gaining presence in social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc is a dream come true. Having that Blue Verified mark is part of that dream. Today I want to talk about Facebook specifically. Over three years ago I myself stopped going online on Facebook for almost a year.

While I was going through a difficult phase of my life and truly I didn’t feel motivated enough to go online on Facebook. Previously I deleted my Facebook profile twice for a few days over some small fights with my then friends. I really don’t feel the need to use Facebook for more than an hour or 30 minutes a day then and I don’t feel the need to go online on Facebook at all now even though I have my own pages to manage.

Facebook. So many emotions gif

(Found on Giphy)

The usual posts on Facebook are like these, people getting married/engaged/having baby, getting new jobs or how they are tired of their jobs, How bosses are annoying little pricks, someone moving out of country, 5 people checking in at places you have (miraculously just now) wanted to go, someone scoring high in their boards etc. Compared to them your life seems so little, so pathetic and you wonder when will you get to do all of these as well. Sometimes, I do that too and I also whined about it at times. But now I realize, that Facebook posts by others about their lives only means they want to share it. All those people are your friends with whom you converse only once in a while or not at all.

Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure you are not, surrounded by assholes. Well said by Sigmund Freud.

Are we indeed surrounded by assholes? All of them? Think it.

Many people take around 100-200 selfies and chose one of it after heavy editing to put as their profile picture only to replace it a week later with another amazing picture. Posing for selfies with groups is a trend. About that I am thankful that I am Selfie Owl. Facebook Selfieslazy. I hardly take selfies and I don’t have the time to indulge in editing activities for my pictures, happily. I don’t check in at any places I go to since I find it unnecessary to touch my phone during such times and also because I don’t have Facebook App installed. Teehee…

Just who are you trying to impress?

Here’s What You Learn By Watching National Geographic’s Before The Flood Movie.

National Geographic has made a climate change movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, it is “Before The Flood”. It seems the filming began somewhere around the shooting of “The Revenant” also starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Leo takes us on a journey of our world in this 1 hour 35 minutes. We also get to see how people protested that Leo doesn’t deserve to be UN Messenger of Peace. Before The Flood movie is about the climate change we are facing and can see it happening on day-to-day basis but still be in denial of the same. It’s about how our politicians and giant corporate snakes poison our minds into feeling that, “no the environment is doing just fine.” So, that the corporates do not lose the consumers and the politicians can keep getting the big bucks.

Being employed in a public sector I understand that consumers are important to the well-being of an industry and even more important for its flourishment. That’s why we can see so many different marketing propagandas to lure more people in.We also have to market things to bring in more customers and sell more of our products. The private sector is even more pressurized than we public ones are.

But more than that I see that people do not care about what they are consuming as long as it’s cheap and looks promising. Have you ever seen a person at the mall who buys some more because there’s discount or it’s cheaper? Don’t get me wrong, not all those products are bad and not all those people are bad. Those people are just doing what they need to do to keep their jobs. It’s up to the buyer to buy the bullshit or not.

Perfect strangers so close yet too far apart

Perfect Strangers. So Close Yet Too Far Apart.

This article will reach all kind of people, the perfect strangers that I write about. People from different ethnicity and religion, different cultures and age groups will be reading this post. Most of us will never meet each other personally nor would we talk for more than a few times if not at all. Yet, by reading each other’s written words or pictures we converse.

We convey to each other our heart’s desires and our deepest troubles yet we feel misunderstood and unhappy. Most of us will never know what the person living next to us wants the most or fears the most, we won’t know a lot of things about someone who lives right next to us leave alone someone who lives a thousand miles away.

Yet by crossing this initial barrier of ignorance and invisibility, by acknowledging that someone out there is going to read my post, just imagining about that makes me feel the presence of another human being. Just like me, sitting there, reading…

There are too many of us and we are all too far apart.

So true Kurt Vonnegut.

I say this because I feel that we have become immune to everything else but ourselves. Every tragedy, bad news, social issues sounds fake somehow. The person walking two steps from us seems like a perfect stranger, we hardly even recognize that person as a human being. Our power of empathy seems to be taken away from us because there’s just too many of us… Too many to count.

I Write. Because You Exist.

I Write. Because You Exist.

Someone must have said this before. Someone must have felt this before. Someone must have written this before. But no matter; I will say it again, I will write it again. I write, because you exist.

You. Yes, You – you changed my world by becoming a part of it. One day, like the unexpected breezy rain, you gushed into my life on the wings of the wind. You shook me gently and woke me from a slumber I didn’t realize I was in. You filled the empty spaces in my heart like pure rain water smoothly runs into the cracks of the river banks and fill up the reservoir for the coming summers. Yet, in the summers you stayed, like a giant oak tree shelters many, you sheltered my lost belief.

Is this love? I kept asking. I told you, “I love you.”

I was frustrated that you never spoke of the love you felt for me. Oh no! I only read it in your actions that spoke to my aching soul. Truth smiled upon me, the beauty of your tranquil love; revived the words in me. Such stupidity you had to endure yet you stayed.

I wrote in vain, I wrote for what it seemed like a century. Maybe, just needed a soul to recognize the tiny voice within me. I turned on the lights to look for something & I found you staring back to me. A wandering soul, I was. You gave me a home. You became part of my adventures. I can still not wrap my mind around how you and I became us.

You saved my words and you nurtured them, even though you didn’t know how to. Maybe you are as clueless as I am. I just want you to know….

Because You Exist. I will keep on writing.

Earth Day. Leonardo DiCaprio on Nature & Earth

Let’s celebrate. THE EARTH DAY. Shall we?

Then I heard the enormous scream of nature….. ~ Edward Munch

Hi everyone 🙂 So… Happy Earth Day. Planted a tree so far?I am writing this post in honor of The Earth Day. To be able to live here, we are so lucky aren’t we? But what are we doing to earn it?

We make a living. We earn. We sell our skills and talents as we get paid in return. Earth has offered us so much by birth but what are we doing to EARN the amazing resources the Mother Earth offers us?

International Earth Day began in the early 1970s by America. For obvious reasons it wasn’t a hot topic then. Now it’s a burning topic.
