Here’s What You Learn By Watching National Geographic’s Before The Flood Movie.

National Geographic has made a climate change movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, it is “Before The Flood”. It seems the filming began somewhere around the shooting of “The Revenant” also starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Leo takes us on a journey of our world in this 1 hour 35 minutes. We also get to see how people protested that Leo doesn’t deserve to be UN Messenger of Peace. Before The Flood movie is about the climate change we are facing and can see it happening on day-to-day basis but still be in denial of the same. It’s about how our politicians and giant corporate snakes poison our minds into feeling that, “no the environment is doing just fine.” So, that the corporates do not lose the consumers and the politicians can keep getting the big bucks.

Being employed in a public sector I understand that consumers are important to the well-being of an industry and even more important for its flourishment. That’s why we can see so many different marketing propagandas to lure more people in.We also have to market things to bring in more customers and sell more of our products. The private sector is even more pressurized than we public ones are.

But more than that I see that people do not care about what they are consuming as long as it’s cheap and looks promising. Have you ever seen a person at the mall who buys some more because there’s discount or it’s cheaper? Don’t get me wrong, not all those products are bad and not all those people are bad. Those people are just doing what they need to do to keep their jobs. It’s up to the buyer to buy the bullshit or not.

Perfect strangers so close yet too far apart

Perfect Strangers. So Close Yet Too Far Apart.

This article will reach all kind of people, the perfect strangers that I write about. People from different ethnicity and religion, different cultures and age groups will be reading this post. Most of us will never meet each other personally nor would we talk for more than a few times if not at all. Yet, by reading each other’s written words or pictures we converse.

We convey to each other our heart’s desires and our deepest troubles yet we feel misunderstood and unhappy. Most of us will never know what the person living next to us wants the most or fears the most, we won’t know a lot of things about someone who lives right next to us leave alone someone who lives a thousand miles away.

Yet by crossing this initial barrier of ignorance and invisibility, by acknowledging that someone out there is going to read my post, just imagining about that makes me feel the presence of another human being. Just like me, sitting there, reading…

There are too many of us and we are all too far apart.

So true Kurt Vonnegut.

I say this because I feel that we have become immune to everything else but ourselves. Every tragedy, bad news, social issues sounds fake somehow. The person walking two steps from us seems like a perfect stranger, we hardly even recognize that person as a human being. Our power of empathy seems to be taken away from us because there’s just too many of us… Too many to count.

Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi… Be The Change You Want To See In The World.

Out of all Mahatma Gandhi quotes, this one pops up almost everywhere…

BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.

Mahatma Gandhi is a man who lives on despite being dead for 67 years. His simplicity, generous & strong will are shining rays of hope for many. I don’t like him as much but I like the work he did. It will be his birthday in few hours and I am so sad because if only it was the day after tomorrow if it hadn’t been 2nd October on a Sunday it would have been a holiday for me. :p hahaha Jokes apart, I am really very happy.

It’s a wonderful night here. Listening to the music flowing freely from the speakers in some grounds far from my home because it’s the first day of Gujarati’s favorite festival, Navratri. I think of all the people swaying to the melodies and feel like dancing myself.  Even the crickets are chirping along the music so well. Lucky guy to be born in the festive times.

Mahatma Gandhi….

Mahatma means “A Great Soul. I wonder how Gandhi must have felt being called a Mahatma. Did he feel proud of all he had done or was he just happy and didn’t care? Ever thought how history will remember him? Imagine being a role model to some and being a nightmare for others? Never dreamt of being called “Father of The Nation” or “Baapu”? I don’t know but I like to imagine that he didn’t think about it at all. That he just selflessly did all that he could to help his fellow beings.

Today I see many complaining and suggesting how it can be a better world if someone else could change. For example, there’s too much traffic, why did that man bring his car to the market holding up all the traffic? How am I going to complete this assignment? darn that teacher. When will my colleague stop being such an ass?

I wonder since when did we start needing others to be better so our lives could be better. I mean if only “OUR” lives were to be lived by the actions of “OTHERS”… Not a bad idea, if you write a novel about it, do give my idea credits! 😛Mahatma Gandhi quote

If Gandhi was alive today, I wonder what kind of storm he would have brought. On his birthday, I like him or not I want to once again remind myself that I only need to change myself to change the world.

What happens when you decide to BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD?

  • Some thought process changes. Instead of wishing, you start doing. By doing, you bring something in this world that is powerful enough to change the atmosphere around you.
  • A teacher of mine once said, “Circumstances are never in your favor. You just have to do your best and keep going.” Don’t wait for things to change and be in your favor so you can do better. Don’t look for faults in others, don’t blame others to justify your bad situations. Don’t blame yourself either. Just do, do what is necessary to be better. For the change.
  • One starts being happier.
  • Complaints become less and one becomes more engaging.
  • Being the best version of yourself is not achievable in a day, but day by day things keep changing and before you know you have a whole new life to look up and smile about.
  • Believe it or not, life becomes different.
  • Change is challenging. It’s tough and rewarding in its own ways.

We need not be Mahatmas but somehow we all can in our small ways start lighting up hope like the tiny lamp posts standing tall in snow, burning away, giving our warmth and light to the world and to ourselves.

I wanted the post to be 300 words long and it’s already >600. I am a firm believer in being the change I want to see in the world and somehow I can’t help but hope that no matter what things will turn out nice.

Well, Mahatma Gandhi.. I wish you a very happy 147th Birthday. I never thought I would say this but, thank you. 🙂 & my dear reader, I wish you a happy Sunday.

Me Before You, A Tale As Old As Time Itself. – Movie Review

Me Before You… Usual story, girl meets boy. A tale as old as time itself. I believe, stories begin when we venture into the unknown realms of our lives & mostly we are thrown into those realms because of our circumstances. There is not one romance book lover who has not read Me Before You novel. In case you haven’t you can check out my review of the book, Here.

Me Before You a movie based on a novel by jojo moyes

The only problem is, you have to let yourself experience the new things and then decide for yourself. Mostly, we refuse to let ourselves free…

Me Before You movie begins with Will’s accident & then shifts to Lou losing her job. Lou is a sweet, easy-going small town girl with no worries in the world except she doesn’t think she will be able to go explore the world or do bigger things. She believes she will live and die where she was born. Yet, her light doesn’t diminish nor does she blame anyone for it. She has her problems but they are not bigger then her optimism.

Born-again-my-petridish

Born Again.

Born Again.

All of a sudden life seemed so different. Looking back, things have changed so much. She can’t go back to what she wanted. Changes came in like the ocean waves, slowly but steadily and she was too busy to notice.

Love. Was that it? If she didn’t love them all, would it be any different? Would she have taken the roads she wanted to take so dearly? People. Some, who broke her heart. Some who cared. Stayed.

Never knew life would change so fast. In ten years she can’t even tell the difference from where she began and where she has come. Ten years flew by in a blink. She had imagined herself elsewhere, how did she end up here?

Was she not willing to take the chances and move forward with herself? Being alone, is that what scares her? Looking back, she didn’t make much of a choice. Sweet talks and loved ones kept her in a cocoon of “what is good for her”. Who was to decide? Who is to say? if not her?

Tired by the shackles of love, she picked up her pen and began to write. Her pen is mightier than any sword. She began going on adventures she only dreamed about. Now, her love is fierce, in her eyes there’s a fire. She met a men, he knew her soul. She fell in love again. The fire in her soul grows stronger by the day.

Being loved for who she was, she became fearless. Like a phoenix, from the ashes of her old life, she was born again. Mighty as the phoenix, her flight has just began. She is the one people write poems and stories about.

When she sees a soul estranged and longing as she once was, she smiles. She whispers, “hang in there and someday, when you believe, you will be born too.”

Happiness is like butterflies. Remember that.

Socrates O` Socrates… Food For Thought.

Socrates school of philosophy

No one could possibly be happy if they acted against their better judgment. And he who knows how to achieve happiness will do so. Therefor, he who knows what is right will do right. Because why would anyone chose to be unhappy?

Pledge for parity. Women empowerment

Being Woman in 2016… Empowered much?

International Women’s Day website has been asking to pledge for parity in 2016, so we can accomplish our goal of being equal to men in the next 117 years. 117 YEARS? I can live two lives by then. In 117 years mankind might have accomplished the goal of having a colony on Mars. It’s amazing what could happen in 117 years. Why is it that it would take 117 years to have equal rights for men and women when we have been co-existing since the beginning of humanity?

Hope is a good thing…. What is hope?

What is hope?

A lot of times we find ourselves at junctions. Junctions in the form of problem or confusions, from here we have two options; either to move forward with our decisions or to stop evaluate and sometimes just to stop it all together.

Recently I read about a girl from Bangalore who committed suicide after she searched Guru Google for more than two hours for ways to commit suicide. She was looking for ways to end her life as fast as possible. Google helped her find a way. I hear she had a good degree and was starting out as an entrepreneur in which she failed in the first attempt and her family failed to support her because she left a good paying job to follow her heart. Not going to blame anyone in this case, why should I? Just a bystander, who knew nothing. But we all heard about this case and there are a few take outs from this incidents, I am just going to talk about the first few thoughts that came to my mind when I heard about this shameful incident.
