On Waking Up Early. Why I wake up early now?

Wake Early. Love mornings

Every time you come in yelling that God damn “Rise & Shine!” “Rise & Shine!” I say to myself, “How lucky dead people are.”Β

Tennessee Williams

I couldn’t agree more. Hate it when I am woken up in the morning. Hated it more when I was a kid because I was rushed to the school ASAP.

It’s three in the morning and you can hear the first music of the dawn. The peacocks are up real early. Maybe that’s why they are so beautiful? I ask myself. Sometimes I joke with my family that they are not singing, they are just calling me by my nickname, their lost princess. When I hear them I like to let my imagination run and I come up with funny stories for my family. Like the last time I told them, “One day those peacocks are going to come and take our Jeana (my niece) away for an adventure.” Everyone laughed but it was so much fun making up stories with them. Well, a veryΒ Good Morning to you my friend. πŸ™‚

My secret to happy morning doesn’t have to do anything with me. I am simply blessed to be up early. I have not been writing for almost a month but I have been waking up every morning without any alarm clocks. I wake up listening to the birds songs every morning. As I open my eyes I whisper good morning to all those who are awake and sometimes I even scold the squirrel for making so much noise in the morning. It’s satisfying and fun Β to watch the squirrels play and talk to each other. I am listening to the sparrows, the jungle babblers, the red crested bulbuls, peculiar squirrels and who notΒ as they dance around and wake the others. If you google right now, you will find plenty of videos and recordings of bird songs. If only going outside, finding birds and listening to them was more of an activity for each one of us.

A few things I realized by waking up early.

  1. You don’t put your life and everything in it together just because you are up early.Β If you keep loathing life isn’t fun. It’s by doing that you start to put pieces of anything in life together.Β
  2. You feel awesome. Absolute promise to you that if you wake up early you will be more happy. Waking up early does make you happy but you do need to sleep early. Go out for a jog or go on your terrace of balcony for an early read, it will feel much better. Not only you will take more oxygen but you will take in more of life.
  3. It’s a gift to yourself. I won’t elaborate this one, think for yourself why it’s a gift. πŸ™‚

  4. It’s a promise to yourself that you must learn to keep everyday. We don’t like to wake up early. I don’t. In fact it would be great to sleep till late and stay up till 2-4 am in the morning doing things.
  5. You get more done. I have been reading, listening to more music, watching more movies/anime. In short, I have been having more FUN. Believe you me, it’s fun to wake up early and do things. Although once I was too sleepy and I hit my head on the bathroom door because I couldn’t keep my eyes open, I love it when I wake up early. I have not been writing much and frankly that hasn’t been on the top of my list. As you can easily understand from my first two paragraphs, I woke up early just to enjoy life. It’s been a joyride.
  6. Wake up not to accomplish everything in the world, wake up because you love it. I think waking up early and giving a head start to life is much more uplifting to a sad person then any uplifting music. Life is fun that way. I am not optimistic when I say that, it’s the truth.

If you look at it most of the men/women who are successful, wake up early. Albert Einstein, Stephen King, Mark Zuckerberg, Narendra Modi, Barack Obama, Bill Gates, Dhirubhai Ambani etc. Read their interviews or their morning rituals you will realize the first thing they did was waking up earlier then it seems humanly possible. They all have some agenda, a plan for the day that they execute to do their work better. Yes, I said that to get your attention and also because it’s the truth. It’s not waking up early that make you successful but it’s being early then others in “Doing” that does. Maybe it’s because as you go on you start realizing that even if you just sit and listen to the music of nature, you are far better than you were yesterday. I am lucky and grateful for the mornings. I know most of the city folks can not agree with me but believe me, it’s true.

I have been practicing waking up early without realizing that it’s slowly becoming a habit and I am really happy about it. I still go back to bed if I haven’t got enough sleep, but it’s funny now, I don’t feel bad about it. I used to wake up at 8 am before. Now it’s 5 am and I couldn’t be happier. God, listening to those peacocks sing with all the other birds, it’s a symphony.

Wake up early. Nature plays a symphony you wouldn’t wanna miss. Better yet, it’s free for us all.Β

It’s almost 6: Twenty FiveΒ now. I need to excuse myself, I am not used to sticking to my PC early in the morning. I am going to enjoy my cup of tea in the fresh air under the lovely blue sky. A lovely appointment shouldn’t be missed.

Have a fun day, you. πŸ™‚

  • Waking up is a difficult part ..but once up it feels really good for you seem to have a whole lot of time at your disposal!! You seem to be living in a beautiful place Hemangini ….would have loved to see some pics of them too!

    • I will upload the pictures dear. I am waiting for monsoon to start.. Waking up early sure makes one feel like they have a lot of time. For me it’s best as I spend more than 10 hours at job which leaves me with very less time frame to do the things I love. πŸ™‚

Thanks for coming over & giving such wonderful comments. πŸ™‚
      Night night.

  • Your exuberance towards life’s silver linings is infectious! Very glad I came across your space πŸ™‚

I love mornings. But I have an agenda. It’s when the birdies wake up!

    • πŸ™‚ Thanks Christy Bharath for some of the most wonderful comments this week.. πŸ™‚

  • Waking up early and going outside is a wonderful appointment, like you said, and should not be missed.

There’s nothing like being outside early in the morning, is there? It’s quiet and the air smells so good. Plus, you can hear the birds singing and the squirrels chattering.

What a beautiful post this is! I feel refreshed just reading it. πŸ™‚

    • Wow you described it in such a poetic way! Waking up early is a gem. Thanks for this wonderful comment dear πŸ™‚

  • I’m always up early. My husband wakes up at 5.30 for work and I’m up by 6am, getting lunches ready for the kids and the day routines begin. It used to be hard but I love it now. My favorite part of early morning is walking Harry my dog. πŸ™‚

    • Wow that’s pretty early. My mom does the same and in a year or two I might join the crew! haha I guess it’s wonderful in a way to have a family and be able to do things for them.

Wow your dogs name is Harry? ahhaha… Sorry I just love Harry Potter so hearing this makes me crack up!

      • Yep, Harry goes everywhere with me (and I love Harry Potter too) πŸ™‚

        • haha sounds wonderful. πŸ™‚ Have a lovely night dear. Bless you.

          • Thank you. I will, except it’s nearly lunch here in Melbourne! πŸ™‚

          • ooh Australia is early riser then me! haha Sorry mistake!! Have a wonderful lunch then πŸ™‚

          • No need to apologise … the time zone differences always does my head in! πŸ™‚

          • πŸ™‚

  • Great post! I was going to add that I am starting to learn how to wake up early, too, but I still get up at 8 am :’) Which for me, is early, haha!

Let’s just say I am NOT a morning person at all! However, getting started earlier than I used does give me a happy feeling πŸ™‚

    • haha in the beginning it was really tough for me and I hit the bed more then often but slowly I have developed the habit.. πŸ™‚ as long as you wake up before 9 am it’s cool, after 9 am it’s just quite late.. It does make one happy. I am glad you are having fun. By the way, hows Canada?

      • I agree on the 9 am rule :p And I suppose one can trains him/herself… Maybe I’ll do that in the future.
Canada was totally amazing! I loved every minute of it! Thanks for asking πŸ™‚

        • haha all the best dear πŸ™‚ Although 8 am is fine, if you are happy with it.
I just visited your site and the pictures are beautiful, you look so beautiful Sam <3. I am waiting for your posts about your trip though, will you be doing any?

  • I love getting up early in the morning. My dogs and I come out to the patio and watch the garden wake up, listen to the birds. I wrote an entire book in 6 months, by just getting up early before work. It seems like my brain is it’s freshest and most imaginative before the sun is up. Of course, by about 2 in the afternoon, I need a little power nap, but even after a nap, I am still not as functional as I am first thing in the morning.

I wish I had Peacocks to listen to.

    • I feel the same way about mornings. The freshness and will to complete some work is much more powerful in the morning then any other time of the day.

Wow completing a book in 6 months, how awesome are you? Congrats and you landed a publisher or gonna self publish??

I hope some morning you will hear some peacocks too. πŸ™‚

      Have a wonderful Day πŸ™‚

  • Very well written πŸ™‚

  • Can relate to it πŸ™‚ Waking up early on a holiday, after a full sleep though, in the weather here at Bangalore is.. umm.. pure bliss :))

    • (: have a wonderful day ann lovely weather dear.

  • Hi early riser, nice one! Now have a nice day

  • Honestly, I have such a bad habit of going right back to sleep after my alarm goes off. I wake up refreshed after 10 minutes, but going back to sleep after you wake up makes you feel more tired and wanting of sleep.

    • Aha!! Good morning Michael or is it good night where you are at??

      Tried-tested-agreed! Every word!
